Although I mostly document photography here, I dabble in several other forms of art - including music and theatre. Improv comedy is one of my true loves, and in addition to performing with my improv troupe on a regular basis, I teach youth improv workshops every year! I'm spending the week in Tokyo with my mother, who has dreamed of coming here for years. I defy you to look at this capybara and evidence of a poop museum and tell me that dreams don't come true in Tokyo.

Rainbows can be a tough thing to shoot. I won’t know until I get back home to my editing computer whether the shots I got this summer are going to turn out. But this rainbow behind a well-known barn in Garden Valley and a double rainbow somewhere in the middle of nowhere on the way back to Georgia were both worth a stop.

It’s fun to be one of my local businesses out each Saturday at the market in Garden Valley. While I’ve been in my booth selling photos, my wife has been keeping herself busy selecting handmade items that pair well with some of my photos. Check out a few of her favorite items.

We've made the trek back acrdoss the country, and I will be selling prints at the Crouch Artisan Market every Saturday morning from 10a - 2p. This year I am offering free 4" x 6" prints to kids who have expressed an interest in my work - or just photography in general! The back contains a write-up of the photo, including camera settings to guide them in their on photography journey.

As is often the case for me and Andrea, we're in the same place and working alongside each other, but we couldn't be doing things that are more different! Andrea is touring schools in Guatemala with the organization HUGS (Help Us Go to School). And I am teaching the HUGS office staff how to use their new camera to get quality photos for their website. Much of the donations they receive rely on compelling photography, so we're focusing on framing and lighting that tells a stor

We're in New Orleans with friends for a few days, and while photography isn't the main reason for the trip, there's always plenty of opportunities to get the camera out!

This one was a lot of fun. I really don't do prom shoots for anyone but my own kids, so it's fun to do something a little different.

Looking back through the years, I'm pretty proud of all the family moments I have been able to capture from behind the lens. Our kids usually ask me if I'll take their dance photos. Their senior pictures. Their headshots. I've even taken quite a few of our family photos with my camera on a tripod and a timer set. As the step-dad who joined the family late, it has been a great way for me to get to be there for many of life's most important moments.

With many of us stuck inside due to lockdowns and in-person social interactions grinding to a halt, I had to find a way to provide something unique and to look forward to. I had read a story about a photographer who would just photograph people on their front porch, and decided that I would offer the same to everyone in my neighborhood! I live in an older part of Salt Lake City, with most of the houses in the area being around 100 years old. When a magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit back on the 18th, I knew that several homes in my area would likely be damaged. Walking the neighborhood, I found I was not wrong - with crumbling walls and fallen chimneys throughout the area. However, a damaged home can still be home! I spent a day with a friend, photographing wild horses, landscapes, and other scenes to enter in the Plein Air Contest for Tooele Arts Council. This photo, which I titled "Lunch at Globemallow Cafe" ended up winning 1st place! You can see it on display at the Tooele County Fair.
